Watercolor runs through my work as an architect. For many years I have painted presentation watercolors for other architects' projects, many of them published in
The New York Times,
The Washington Post, and
Architectural Record, and I was chief illustrator for
Cottage Living Magazine. In 2001 the Gabriel Prize gave me three months in France to draw and paint French classical architecture, and my reconstruction drawings have twice received Awards of Excellence from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators.
These paintings are the other side of that work: landscapes painted for their own sake, mostly along the Millstone River, Carnegie Lake, and the Delaware and Raritan Canal around Princeton, New Jersey.
Millstone Morning was selected for the New Jersey Department of Health's new building, and many of my paintings of Washington subjects are now in the Library of Congress. If a painting here interests you, please
get in touch.
